As one of the countries' most popular destinations during the vacation periods, people from around the continents visit to its popular islands for the sun, and to the cities of the antiquity. I admire Greece. It’s cool; it’s not expensive, it has excellent food, healthy, windswept but resting islands, and cheerful and friendly locals. It’s the perfect summer destination.
Accommodation – based on the area of Greece
you are traveling to, hotels will cost 10-40 EUR for dorms and 30-40 EUR for private rooms for a night (less in Athens
, more on big islands such as Mykonos
). A room in a budget hostel that sleeps two can be found for 30-45 EUR (expect many special rates – up to 55% higher – during the busy season). Facilities at these hotels frequently include free WiFi, a private bathroom, air-conditioning, television, a mini-fridge, and sometimes breakfast is included as well.
Activities – Visiting the antique sites around the country will cost between 15-24 EUR for a ticket. Island activities (kayaking, parasailing, banana boats) the rate is between 22-45 EUR. You can hire ATVs for a day for around 50 EUR, and diving trips begin around 56 EUR.
Best time to travel to the Greek islands. Greece is often described as one of the ultimate fall vacation destinations, and there are many reasons why. Going to the Greek islands from September to mid-October, you’ll avoid the high summer temperatures, inflated hotel prices, and the crowds of tourists on the small islands. I did a lot of street view
research first, just to check places out then, I went to Santorini from September 13th-18th, and the weather was nothing short of perfect, about 85 °F every day, and prices for my hotel reservation dropped from €99/night to €69/night
Budget – The type of funds that you can put together will differ depending on how resilient you are, you will be hoping to stay and either you will need to look to eat and drink in top-end companies.
Hostel beds are usually available for around 10 euros for a night, while budget hotel rooms can be found from around twenty-five euros upwards. Keep in mind; rates do tend to develop in the larger resorts and destinations, especially in the good season.
If you miss the elegant cocktails and eat from street merchants, then you can get by on ten to 20 euros a day for food and drink. You will also need to budget for pursuits, especially if you are going to be taking tours to the best beaches or exploring the major historical sites.
Suggested daily budget – 45-60 EUR / 40-63 USD (Note: This is a suggested budget considering you’re lodging in a hostel, eating out a little, cooking most of your foods, and using town tours. Using the budget suggestions above you will always lower this number. Nevertheless, if you stay in excellent accommodation or eat out more often, expect this to be higher.
